Tranquil: A Harmonious Blend of Space and Innovation

Zhi-Bang Wang's Office Design Transforms Old into Gold

In the heart of an old building, designer Zhi-Bang Wang crafts 'Tranquil,' an office space that embodies the brand's evolution and the promise of future possibilities.

The concept of 'blank space' serves as the cornerstone of 'Tranquil,' an office design project by Zhi-Bang Wang that redefines the aesthetics of workspace. Embracing the brand's growth and the team's expansion, Wang's design philosophy revolves around maintaining the brand's core values while showcasing its achievements in a tangible, visually striking manner. The transformation of the old site into an open, aesthetic space is a testament to the brand's journey from inception to its current stature.

What sets 'Tranquil' apart is its use of blank space as a metaphor for potential and its unique approach to the site's long and narrow layout. The entrance features a retracted design with beveled glass, inviting a slice of the outdoors inside. The interior's curved lines foster a sense of trust and security, while the clever remodeling of a large ceiling beam mitigates any sense of oppression, showcasing Wang's attention to psychological comfort within the design.

The realization of 'Tranquil' is a symphony of materials and colors. Utilizing Benjamin Moore paint, walnut veneer, and Italian artistic paint, among others, Wang curates a minimalist color palette that radiates warmth and sophistication. The base of cement paint is complemented by accents of burgundy and dark blue, infusing the space with a cozy, yet fashionable ambiance. This meticulous selection of materials not only enhances the visual experience but also aligns with the brand's innovative and eco-friendly ethos.

Wang's technical prowess shines through in the re-planning of the 238 square meter, four-story building. By removing central partitions and enlarging the horizontal axis, the designer has transformed what was once a cramped layout into an inviting expanse. The strategic placement of the entrance and furniture guides visitors towards the reception area, ensuring a seamless flow within the space.

'Tranquil' is more than just an office; it is an interactive experience. The design team's commitment to quality and client relationships is evident in the first-floor meeting area, where clients can directly engage with new techniques and materials, gaining a firsthand appreciation of the team's dedication to excellence. This approach to design interaction underscores the brand's sincerity and professional capabilities.

The journey to realizing 'Tranquil' was not without its challenges. The discovery of extensive termite damage in the 40-year-old structure necessitated thorough treatment to protect the wooden elements integral to the design. Additionally, the restoration of boarded-up windows and the creative resolution of a protruding ceiling beam through curved design demonstrate Wang's ability to turn obstacles into opportunities for innovation.

'Tranquil' stands as a beacon of design transformation, where the essence of blank space is illuminated by soft light, revealing the purity of design. It is a space that not only serves as an office but also as a tangible representation of the brand's leap in quality. Every visitor is invited to experience a space that is comfortable, personalized, and inspirational, a space that is a true reflection of Zhi-Bang Wang's vision and the brand's commitment to excellence.

As a testament to its design excellence, 'Tranquil' has been honored with the Iron A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2024, a prestigious accolade that recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial standards. This award celebrates Wang's integration of industry best practices and his contribution to a better world through design.
